Abeita-Sherer Community Foundation

*Currently seeking 501(c) Educational Non-Profit Status

The Abeita-Sherer Community Foundation partners with the Abeita Consulting Group, LLC. to provide access to resources, trainings, and spaces to support survivors of trauma. Our foundation houses our Indigenous based trauma centered advocacy group, Coyote’s Family.

Coyote’s Family

Coyote’s Family is an academic trauma focused advocacy group that centers warrior advocacy (Abeita, 2022). We teach survivors of trauma to advocate for themselves, tell their truth, and become warriors who are confident, capable, and activists for social justice in their own right.

Using holistic Indigenous based epistemologies and ontologies that include balancing the mind, body, and spirit, we center practices of advocacy, healing, and wellness. Dre firmly believes in their mission to create and care for their #globalfamily. Likewise, every client that we support is literally “family”.

We make it clear in our dealings with the private, corporate, and educational institutions when reporting the trauma and lived experiences of our family members that we are fighting for the survival and wellbeing of our loved ones. Never alone. Always with family.

Our Services-Professional Civil Rights Advocate

Coyote’s Family provides the services of professional civil rights advocate, Dre Abeita. I “handhold” my clients through every step of the process.

The Warrior Advocacy Process

Step one: Meet with advocate for recorded initial interview.

Step two: Together, client and advocate will create a written statement of the traumatic event(s). The statement will include a timeline and list of potential witnesses.

Step three: The advocate will work with client to schedule all official meetings with the institution, handle emails when appropriate, and help with evidence gathering and interview preparation.

Step four: Advocate will attend all official meetings with institution with the client including but not limited to student/staff/employee disciplinary hearings, academic hearing, hearing or investigations with the Office of Equal Opportunity or other appropraite entity.

Step five: Advocate and client will meet to review statements from interviews and/or hearings and make corrections.. Additionally, advocate will help to prepare clients for the next interviews or steps in the process.

Step six: Advocate will work with client to secure witnesses, evidence, and investigate anything pertinent to the case. Advocate will work towards reaching solutions that will not cause harm and protect the rights and safety of their client.

Step seven: Help with social media, media outreach, and seeking out legal support. Testifying on behalf of their role in supporting their clients in case of law suit.

Step eight: Support clients with mental health, community support, and other self care support services when needed.

If you need support, you are not alone. Please reach out for help. We are always available by email at NEEDACOYOTE@gmail.com.

Ways to Support

1) Volunteer your time. Make a huge difference.

The Abeita-Sherer Community Foundation is looking for a global family of volunteers. We especially need support with raising our non-profit executive board and fundraising to support our work. Please consider volunteering your time.

2) Financial Support-Donations welcome.

Our services are funded through donations. Each client receives an “invoice” documenting the hours, work, and services provided by the Abeita-Sherer Community Foundation through the advocacy group Coyote’s Family. The purposes of these invoices are to document the expenses of the client in case their case goes to court.

If financially able, then clients have the option to make a donation in any amount that fits their budget.

Donations are always welcome. Please email NEEDACOYOTE@gmail.com to make a donation to support our community work.

Coyote’s Call To Action: Looking for Fellow Superheroes and Survivors/Thrivers

Dear #myglobalfamily,
Please be reminded that trauma is never our fault and is never ok. We are warriors, survivors, and thrivers. Coyote’s Family is here to help those who are strong enough to report their cases from beginning to end. We are finished our 19th case serving multiple clients (academic theft, sexual harassment, microaggressions, hostile work environment, discrimination based on gender, race/ethnicity, disability, etc.) in several states and institutions with the Office of Equity or Opportunity (depending on the state). We can help.
